Musical Surroundings' Nova Phonomena represents a new reference for $1K phono stages, in my opinion. Developed with brilliant, no-pretense designer Michael Yee, the Nova's AC OR DC design takes only an hour of charging to run on nothing but dead-quiet DC power for a full three-hour listening session. Its way-cool, never too bright center light changes with a touch of your finger over its light-sensitive button from Green (DC) to red (AC) to flashing red (charging). It also features 300mF of defeatable capacitace where requested, and BUNCHES of gain AND cartridge loading settings, so this baby will work with any cartridge you can name. We've just received ours recently, and are already in love with it. If it's time for a phono stage upgrade, you owe it to yourself to schedule an in-home audition.
