Phono Stages / phono preamps

The most delicate signal in any audio system is the signal off of a phono cartridge before it hits the phono stage. Many cartridges have nominal output of less than 1/1000th of a volt, and the most delicate signals can be into the 1/100,000th of a volt!!!!  Get the idea?  Make sure that the phono stage mates well with your phono cartridge....

  • how much variation in cartridge gain and cartridge impedance loading/matching will your phono stage give you?
  • Will it work equally well with a wide variety of moving magnet AND moving coil cartridges?
